It’s true…Sharon “La Loca” Montero has been accused of having a split personality. One minute, she’s the “round a way, mami with the most on the mic”. The next, she’s that “Dolce- diva that delivers the goods”. Either way, you get more than you expected and everything you deserve.
The Boston, Mass born and bred chica credits Angie Martinez and Wendy Williams for her entry into the radio world. “I craved listening to both of them. To me, Angie was the gritty and edgy Boricua that I could identify with. You didn’t see too many Latinas on the mic, and Angie is that trendsetter. And Wendy…Wendy was my Oprah! She interviewed any and every one”.
Since entering the field, the Dominican-American mami is coming to us from Power 95.3 and has worked with MTV, BET and quite a few top CHR and Hip Hop stations in the south; WFLZ, 93.3; WBTP, 95.7 THE BEAT; WJHM, 102 Jamz and WPYO Power 95.3 in Orlando FL.
La Loca confesses that she is true to who she is and can be found flowing in “Spanglish” at any given moment on the mic. Just like those who came before her, she hopes to inspire the next crop of Latina radio personalities, and prove that you can do it while being as loco as you wanna be! .
